Recruiting and Brand Development
The Opportunity
As the workplace returned to its first in-person recruiting events in 2021, City+Ventures knew it needed to attract the top talent that helped build them to #1 in Nebraska on the Inc 5000’s 2020 list of fastest-growing, private companies.
I was tasked with developing a branding initiative aimed at attracting self-motivated interns that were excited to learn and full of drive. A bold and confident brand to recruit bold and confident employees. Every detail was focused on making an impact, from unique takeaways such as plantable sunflower seeds and color changing cups, to the basic foundations of a bright color palette and font.
Messaging and Collateral
Prior to this project, the City+Ventures brand consisted solely of a gold and grayscale color palette. The main goal for this specific brand extension was to provide vibrant colors that brought a modern and inviting feel to a stagnant corporate identity. In addition to colors, I chose to add simple thin line patterns and elements to elevate deliverables without distracting from the main messaging.
As for messaging, I worked with other colleagues to develop a deeper brand voice and tone of City+Ventures. It was important to build the tone based on realistic expectations of the internships- no day was guaranteed to be the same as the last and we aimed to be up front about the tasks at hand. At an ever-growing company, our interns were often key players in hands-on projects that had real-life impacts; thus the tagline “Grow with Us” was established.
